Designed to help farmers build a solid foundation of record-keeping skills and make informed financial decisions, this course will be split into two days. Whether you're just getting started or looking to refine your enterprise budgeting process, these workshops will provide hands-on learning and practical tools to apply to your farm business this year. NOTE: Registration limited to 20 participants.
Session 1- March 11: Farm Financial Records for Beginner Farmers
Understanding your farm’s financial health starts with strong record-keeping. This half-day workshop is designed for beginning farmers or those who want a refresher on financial statements and the fundamentals of farm financial management.
We will cover:
The purpose and structure of key financial statements: Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement
Simple record-keeping practices to streamline tax season and improve financial clarity
Hands-on exercises to help you build confidence in organizing and using your own financial records
By the end of the day, you’ll have a solid foundation in farm financial statements and be better prepared to use your records for decision-making.
Session 2- March 12: Using Enterprise Budgets to Evaluate Profitability
(Prerequisite: Farmers attending this class should have a solid understanding of a Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement OR have attended Day 1.)
Once you have a solid financial recordkeeping system, the next step is putting those records to use. This workshop focuses on using Enterprise Budgets to evaluate individual farm enterprises and identify ways to improve profitability
