CEDC Welcomes 2023 Summer Intern

As the summer of 2023 kicks off, CEDC is excited to welcome our new intern to learn about how economic development non-profits function, to be immersed in the local economy, and to get a hands-on experience in the many different facets of work that CEDC does.

Hannah O’Neil graduated from Hope College in Holland, MI last May where she studied Classical studies, Philosophy, and Dance. She lives in the North Country when she is not participating in work exchanges abroad such as Switzerland and Iceland, and her future fall travels to Italy and Finland. By traveling on her own – and working and living with families – she finds a certain comfort in these solitary expeditions. To Hannah, these experiences in helping families in other countries gives her a unique perspective on a new place that is different from just being a tourist for a few days.

By interning with CEDC this summer, she hopes to further understand the inner economic workings on the local and small business level by bringing a humanities and philosophical outlook. As a Coös native and growing up with a family business, she would like to give back to her community in improving the communications with local businesses and by researching ways to promote economic growth. Additionally, she would like to learn more about non-profit organizations.

After working both abroad and in the States for the next couple years, Hannah hopes to pursue a graduate-level program in philosophy/ethics of artificial intelligence, or perhaps in a more creative field such as artistic directing, writing, higher education, or a performing arts field.
