Coos Economic Development Corporation (CEDC), a non-profit organization created to promote and support economic growth and development in Coös County to foster a strong and diverse workforce, sustainable employment, and a thriving business environment, is pleased to announce receiving a grant award of $144,260 from the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) and USDA Rural Development.

This grant will support the new LEAN In program (Leadership, Expansion, Advancement & Networking). The program focuses on workforce and business development objectives in Coös County to better connect businesses with start-up and advancement needs, support business expansion with our Canadian partners, and build pipelines for youth and adults via workshops, career technical learning, and casual learning from professional networking groups.

Ericka Canales, Executive Director, states “This program runs in tandem with the organization’s new strategic plan efforts to operate as a resource and steward for services and infrastructure needed for our region to continue to thrive and grow.”

Over the next three years, CEDC seeks to invest resources like this to enhance CEDC’s capacity to do the work, enhance support for businesses and entrepreneurs, make capital investments (loans, grants) that help break down barriers that impact rural communities, and implement catalyst programs and initiatives.
