CEDC Announces New Strategic Plan 2023-2026

An Eye Towards the Future

Coos Economic Development Corporation (CEDC), a non-profit organization created to promote and support economic growth and development in Coös County to foster a strong and diverse workforce, sustainable employment, and a thriving business environment, is pleased to announce the launch of its new strategic plan and key initiatives.

CEDC’s strategic plan, conceived this summer with the guidance of Cookson Communication, will serve as a framework for the organization’s outreach and business support efforts for the next three years. The CEDC Board of Directors and staff members are excited for the official launch of this strategic plan and its initiatives, as well as their potential impact on the region. Board of Director’s Chair Carol Miller states, “We can’t be successful without the businesses and residents who have worked hard for many years to make this a place where people want to come. We need to continue to make sure the reasons why people live and visit here are sustainable for all to experience.”

Ericka Canales, Executive Director, underlined the importance of this fresh strategic plan in a recent statement. “The pandemic and recovery efforts has changed the habits of those who come here and why, affecting everything from housing and workforce to the impact on our natural resources and communities. It is important for us to have a renewed roadmap to help guide our course in making the area a more viable place for people to live and visit” she said.

Over the next three years, CEDC seeks to invest in resources to enhance CEDC’s capacity to do the work, enhance support for businesses and entrepreneurs, make capital investments (loans, grants) that help break down barriers that impact rural communities and implement catalyst programs and initiatives. These objectives will run in tandem with the organization’s efforts to operate as a resource and steward for services and infrastructure needed for our region to continue to thrive and grow. Canales emphasizes that “the strategic plan incorporates not only the North Country as a world-class “work-play” destination, but the importance of building relationships within the communities.said Canales.
